Grimmy & LM: BBC Radio 1 Last Night

LM wandered off in the direction of the BBC Radio 1 studios last night to have a chat with & play a few songs for Grimmy. Missed it? Listen again here – forward to 31m10s to jump right in.

LM chats about festivals, writing songs etc etc and chooses Nina Nastasia & Jim White’s ‘Odd Said The Doe’ (from the album ‘You Follow Me‘) for Grimmy’s ‘1000 Albums Everyone Says You Should Listen To But We’ve Only Got Time To Play One Track So Here It Is…’ feature. She also plays the 2 newbies (or new enough to have missed out on being on ‘I Speak Because I Can’) – ‘Don’t Ask Me Why’ and ‘Rest In The Bed’.

Another Live Session: WFUV

There’s been a number of these coming in recently (a by-product of LM’s Canada/US Mini tour last month) so hope we’re not overloading you? Just thought it might be nice to keep a little archive of sessions on here, so you can check in and listen up whenever your ears are bored and in want of some sound…

This is a particularly nice one featuring a chatty LM, a rustic sounding guitar, a bit more on that No Encores rule and – the part that we ‘HQ still, always find fascinating – more about those songs and just where they come from. Kudos to Kara Manning for a lovely interview.

LISTEN HERE.

Well this may help, just a little…

Listen Again: Radio Live Session & Interview

So here’s the listen again link for LM’s live session on Morning Becomes Eclectic yesterday. You might also be able to watch footage from the session via that link too (although we’re not having much luck with that particular feat the mo).

LM plays lots of tracks from ‘I Speak Because I Can‘, a couple from ‘Alas I Cannot Swim‘ and one of the latest additions to the LM songbook ‘Don’t Ask Me Why’. There’s a little chat time with presenter Jason Bentley too… and can we get some kudos for the live-on-air guitar tuning?

Enjoy.

Lotsa love,

LM HQ x

Update: ‘Rambling Man’ live in the studio on YouTube.

‘I Speak Because I Can’: 2010 Barclaycard Mercury Prize – An Album of the Year

We here at LM HQ are very pleased to bring you the news that ‘I Speak Because I Can’ has been nominated for this year’s Mercury Music Prize. Ironically rendering LM herself a little bit speechless. Thank you to each and everyone of you who have taken the album in as your own and left all of your very kind comments on the various LM pages.

Yiikes!

Not a bad number of days, for this reason, Latitude (and the great crowd there) and various other reasons….

Lotsa love and stay well,

Recordings & Footage From Dharohar Project/Mumford & Sons shows

Well, well. What a fine lot of musical insight and fun that was. Thank you Dharohar Project and Mumford & Sons!

If you couldn’t be at either of the recent gigs then there’s a few things you can do to fill the void, number 1 being: checking out the 4 track collaborative EP (see more deets by scrolling down below). Next, it looks like an EP of the live recordings from the London show will be available to download from iTunes UK, come 5th August. And video-wise, there’s an interview with LM and Winston M&S, also recorded in London, which you can watch by clicking the pic below (although fans watching from outside the UK: it may be subject to those pesky rights complications. Eshk, hope not)…

Finally, there are some photos from the show up on the iTunes UK Facebook page too.

The next stop for LM and her band is Latitude Festival on Friday , then on to Canada, California and Australia. On the rooaad again…
